  • Welcome

    Fleet Feet Triathletes is a friendly and sociable triathlon club open to members of all abilities, including a Tristars division for aspiring athletes aged 8 - 14.

     

    We provide coached sessions for swim, bike and run in Aberdeen and across Aberdeenshire with highly experienced and award-winning triathlon coaches which are open to both members and non-members alike.

     

    Throughout the year, members compete in numerous local, national and international events of all distances and each season is filled with many competitive and social events.

     

    We also organise a number of home races based at the beautiful Knockburn Loch in Super Sprint and Sprint distances and are proud to be hosting the Scottish National Championship Standard Triathlon again in 2018 and 2019.

  • Membership

    Annual membership runs from January - December and is only £33 for adults and £10 for juniors. New members who join between October and December have their membership rolled on to the following year at no extra cost.

     

    As well as enjoying a reduced pay-as-you-go rate for training sessions, adult members can take advantage of an all-in membership rate of Aberdeen Sports Village which provides access to sessions and membership of the facility.

     

    Members are also entitled to a great host of benefits from local suppliers upon presentation of their membership card. Check them out here.

  • Training Sessions

    Swim

    Aberdeen Sports Village - Aquatics Centre

    Members - £6, Non-Members - £8.70

    Mondays - 50m Pool

    October - April

    20:00 - 21:30 All abilities

    Mainly endurance based session; incorporating drills and technique exercises and developing open water skills prior to the open water season starting in May.

    Coaches - Ken Bryson & Alan Semple

     

    Thursdays - 25m pool

    All Year

    19:00 - 20:00 Beginners and Improvers - Targeted at swimmers who are new to triathlon or anticipate taking longer than 15 minutes to swim 750m.

    Coach - Kevin Watson

     

    20:00 - 21:00 Intermediate and Advanced - For more experienced swimmers. Mainly focused on technique development through drills, working on the 5 levels of drill progression. This session will also include a triathlon specific fitness development element.

    Bike

    Tuesdays

    October - April

    19:00 - 20:00 All levels of experience and ability welcome.

    Bike session working through components of bike fitness, including high cadence, isolated leg exercises, bike specific power, strength and muscular endurance. The sessions will become more race specific with time.

    Sessions are on static bikes so no turbo trainers required.

    Aberdeen Sports Village Track or Balgownie Playing Field

    Members - ASV track admission cost only

    Non-Members - ASV track admission plus £2 to coach

    Saturdays

    09:00 - 10:15 All levels of experience and ability welcome.

    Sessions will be modified to suit individual requirements. Working through components of run fitness in order to develop run economy, efficiency and speed. Sessions will use balance and coordination drills and strength and power drills and exercises to develop run ability and will develop run endurance and 10k pace.

    Session location alternates weekly with Countesswells Forest Oct - Mar.

  • TriStars

    Fleet Feet TriStars

    TriStars is the Triathlon club in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for young people aged 8 to 16. With regular training specifically for growing and developing athletes, we support the most seasoned young triathlete to the absolute beginner.

    Swim

    RGU Sport Pool

    Tuesdays 17:30-18:30 or 18:30-19:30

    Focus on improving swim technique for Triathlon swimming. Prior to attending the swim session you should be comfortable swimming 50m unaided. Sessions run during the school term times. Please contact us before first attending to allow the swim coaching team to manage the numbers in each ability lane.

     

    Bike

    Knockburn Sports Loch, Strachan, near Banchory

    Sundays 09:00-11:00

    This session runs every week, is for all ages and can be split into different training groups, depending on numbers and ability. All cycling coaching is carried out in a traffic free environment – either on the purpose built, tarmac cycling track or during winter, off-road on the trails around the loch. Make sure you bring a helmet, bike and running shoes. Knockburn can be chilly, so bring lots of layers!

    Run

    Aberdeen Sports Village Athletics Track

    Saturdays 09:00-10:00

    This session runs every week. The coaches plan exercises and drills that are fun, challenging and designed to improve running form and speed. Make sure you bring appropriate shoes and clothing and be on track, ready to warm up at 8.50am. You need to pay the Sports Village to use the track.

    Annual membership is £10 and this is due at the start of each year.

     

    The cost of sessions with a club membership is £2. Without membership the sessions cost £1 more.

    Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlons

    Join us at Knockburn Sports Loch, near Banchory, an ideal location for an introduction to open water triathlons.

    Sprint Distances are:

    • 750m Open Water Swim. Wetsuits compulsory and a 30 minute cut-off time.
    • 18km Cycle. Out and back circuit, over undulating, quiet country roads.
    • 5km Run. 2 laps of the lochside off-road grass track - hilly undulating route.
    Super Sprint distances are 400m/18k/2.5k

    Scottish National Championship Standard Triathlon 2019

    1 September 2019

     

    The Knockburn Loch site is man-made and located below Kerloch Hill, near Banchory, developed several years ago by one of the Fleet Feet triathletes as a free-for-all sporting facility. Standard Distances are:

    • 1.5km Open Water Swim. 2 laps, wetsuits are compulsory and there will be a 50 minute cut-off time.
    • 42km Cycle. 3 lap undulating cycle on quiet country roads
    • 10km Run. On the challenging terrain in surrounding area. Mixture of trails and paths.
