The March Newsletter is here for you to take a look at, so go and read it. The March newsletter is now out. Catherine has some interesting news in there, including the departure of our stalwart coach, Carol McLaren. Also a plea for a race organiser to come forward for the long running Deeside duathlon, and news of a training / fun weekend on 22 April. Remember, the newsletter does not write itself. If you do anything even slightly exciting, let us know about it. If you have raced, tell us how it went. If you went on a sports holiday, share the experience, and if you have an opinion, no matter how boring, give your partner a rest, and send it to newsletter@fleet-feet.com |

Brodie memorial race and walk 26 Feb 2006 |
|
Over 100 runners took part in the Heather Brodie memorial race on 26 Feb 2006. Heather was one of the most able and prolific racers in triathlon, competing in dozens of Fleet Feet organised races over the years. She was killed while out bike training in 2005 in a collision with a car. The race was organised by Deeside Runners and held in Lumphanen. Your webmaster was there, expecting a fairly casual course because of the nature of the event, " a nice friendly social run, etc", and was horrified to find himself in a full on straight up and straight down hill race, with fellow Fleet Feeter Margaret Anderson showing no mercy and racing him all the way round ( and beating him as well, not with a stick mind you, but it felt much the same.) Quite a few other Fleet feeters were there as well, with Andy Redman and Willie Tulloch well up in the results. A collection of money was taken for the Sandpiper trust with well over £2000 donated. A huge mountain of cakes and other goodies was also demolished at the post race ceremonies, and well done to Deeside Runners and all of their helpers for their hospitality on the day. Pictured here are the winners of the various categories, including our Margaret Anderson with her hands in her pockets, but at least she is smiling, which is more than can be said for most of the other happy chappies here. Lucky they didn't get beat. Results are on the www.born2run.co.uk website. |
