Welcome to the first edition of the committees blog! Hopefully this will be a direct way to keep everyone up to date with what’s happening at the committee level of the club and really just keep up with news, stories and all that goes on with the club.
Who can believe that the 2016 Triathlon season is almost over, blink and you’ll have missed the past 8 months but what an 8 months it has been seeing the club grow from strength to strength. As of August 2016 we have 173 adult members and 41 tristars, a growth of nearly 50% for adults and 80% for kids since early 2015, with more members being added each month.
The year has been outstanding with the club hosting 5 races across the summer, 2 of which were Scottish Championship events. The races were attended by nearly 500 people a lot of which were taking part in a first triathlon or at least open water race. None of these races are possible without a lot of commitment, hard work and time from a team of fabulous volunteers who organise, fill in forms, marshal, register and cheer people on as they make their way around some of our fabulous courses. We submitted a survey to all race participants which had a good response rate, with many wonderful suggestions and improvements on how to make 2017’s races even better!
The Tristars section is thriving with many of our young members taking part in races across Scotland on a regular basis and showing promise for a budding future in the sport. We have welcomed many new coaches this year in the youth section, and now host multiple training sessions geared towards our young things!
The adult section now has 5 summer and 7 winter sessions, with another mid-week run session being planned for the 2016 winter to keep up with the demand for sessions across all abilities and experiences. Our coaching team are top notch and make the club proud with every session they deliver!
The club continues to grow and flourish, and your committee works hard to keep everything going behind the scenes. Stay tuned for regular news and updates! We love to hear your feedback, good, bad or indifferent however so please don’t hesitate to send us your thoughts.
